Traditional Skin Therapies - face & body!
The gloves are off!
Traditional skin therapy incorporates a combination of manual and mechanical methods of manipulation with evidence-based, results-driven skincare to nurture your skin back to health. Everyone can benefit from this treatment and it can be used across the whole body. This treatment is individualised for you! No two skins are the same, so no two treatments will be the same.
Research has shown that the psychological benefits of physical touch through traditional beauty therapy, massage therapy and physical therapies are significant and noteworthy for all that experience it (Paulson, 2008).
This is the ultimate hands-on experience where massage techniques work to stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation, increase muscle tone, deeply relax the nervous system and tone and correct superficial skin conditions. Research supports the use of therapeutic massage and lymphatic drainage techniques to assist in the management of many conditions across the body. For many people undergoing treatment for cancer or acute and chronic disease management, traditional therapies can assist in the restoration of skin functionality, barrier repair, stress relief and wound healing, pain relief, mental fatigue and anxiety and the aesthetics of the skin by improving hydration and reducing inflammation (Amiel et al., 2009).
Traditional skin therapy can include but is not limited to:
Deep cleansing of the skin
Iontopheresis with targeted ampoule infusion
Extractions (removal of comedones, milia & ingrown hairs)
30 min Swedish massage, pressure point, MLD (manual lymphatic drainage); face, neck, decolletage & scalp.
Specific massage techniques are proven to have rejuvenating and stimulating benefits for toning muscle fibres resulting in toning and firming to the area (Howard, 2011).
Mask therapy; rubberised or hyaluronic acid infused fleece mask
LED therapy; included after the cleansing sequence for 15 mins
Any area of the body can be treated with this therapeutic ritual and some of the conditions that will benefit are:
